CONTEST RULES
« LA VENTE DU MILLION »
From February 17 to April 27, 2025
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The "La Vente du Million" contest (the "Contest") is offered by Groupe BMTC inc., doing business under the name “Tanguay” ("Tanguay"). Your participation in the Contest constitutes your full and unconditional acceptance of these Contest Rules, including the decisions, which are final, of Tanguay on all matters relating to the Contest. The following contest is open exclusively to natural persons having the legal age (namely 18 years or older for the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, and 19 years or older for the province of New Brunswick) residing in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick (collectively, the "customer(s)" or "entrant(s)" or "you"). Enter only if you are a resident of the provinces of Quebec, Ontario or New Brunswick.
- How to enter
The contest begins on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 00:01 a.m. Eastern Time and ends on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at;
- 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time in the twenty-five (25) Tanguay and Tanguay l’Entrepôt stores and at the Maurice Tanguay Signature store (collectively the "Stores"); and
- 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time at tanguay.ca, tanguaylentrepot.ca and at tanguay.ca/fr/maurice-tanguay-signature/ (collectively the "Websites");
(the “Contest Period”).
There are two (2) ways to enter the contest:- Purchases in stores and on websites:
- All customers who make a minimum purchase of one hundred dollars ($100.00) or more before taxes during the Contest Period, in one of the Stores or on one of the Websites will be issued a draw coupon number that will be printed directly on their invoice for each full one hundred dollar ($100.00) increment. For example, for a purchase of one hundred and eighty dollars ($180.00) before taxes, only one draw coupon number will be printed.
- In the event that the customer purchases Tanguay, Tanguay l’Entrepôt or Maurice Tanguay Signature gift cards in one of the Stores or through one of the Websites, in accordance with subparagraph 1.1.1. above, draw coupon numbers will be issued at the time of gift card purchase. Draw coupon numbers will not, however, be issued upon use of the same gift cards purchased during the Contest Period for merchandise, even if such use occurs during the Contest Period. In the event that a customer is in possession of gift cards purchased prior to the commencement of the Contest Period and wishes to pay for purchases made during the Contest Period, with said gift cards, draw coupon numbers will be issued in accordance with the conditions set forth in subparagraph 1.1.1.
- Draw coupon numbers issued upon the purchase of gift cards purchased during the Contest Period, will be automatically cancelled by Tanguay if said gift cards are used by the customer to pay any balance due on a merchandise purchase made during the Contest Period.
- Draw coupon numbers will not be issued to any person who is not a natural person purchasing gift cards.
- Nothing in these rules shall prohibit the issuance of a draw coupon number to a customer in accordance with these rules, when the customer uses a gift card(s) to pay the purchase price for personal use, if the gift card(s) was previously issued in the name of a legal entity during the Contest Period, and transferred to a customer (as the legal entity did not receive a draw coupon).
- All draw coupon numbers issued in accordance with the foregoing are recorded in the computer system at Tanguay's head office.
- In addition, a draw coupon will only be issued to the customer when the purchase contract is recognized as valid by Tanguay and when it is confirmed that the conditions for down payment and/or credit approval have been met in accordance with Tanguay's internal requirements. A minimum deposit of 14.975% of the purchase price before taxes and applicable eco-fees will be required to validate the customer's purchase contract. All contracts concluded following public or private bids will be excluded from the contest. Service department repair invoices are excluded from the Contest.
- If a purchase is cancelled or modified, the draw coupon numbers issued for that purchase will be cancelled in Tanguay's computer system from the last number entered for the original sales contract. Example: A customer purchases merchandise for one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) before taxes. Such customer complies with the invoice validity condition and is issued ten (10) draw coupons numbered 100 001 to 100 010. The same customer returns the following week and makes a change that modifies such customer’s purchase from one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) to eight hundred dollars ($800.00). Tanguay's computer system will then invalidate the draw coupon numbers 100 010 and 100 009. In the event that one of these draw coupon numbers was drawn at random, it will be rejected during verification and another coupon number will be drawn at random.
- Other participant (no purchase necessary):
- Finally, the Contest is also open to any natural person who wishes to enter (hereinafter referred to as the "Other Entrant"), subject to the conditions set out below. To do so, the Other Entrant must, during the Contest Period, complete the online form available at the following hyperlink: click here. The Other Entrant must complete the online form with a written request of a minimum of one hundred (100) words, stating the individual’s full name, residential address, date of birth and the reasons why such individual wishes to enter the Contest. Upon receipt of the completed online form from the Other Entrant, Tanguay will send an acknowledgement of receipt to the Other Entrant’s email address. If Tanguay determines, in its sole discretion, that the online form request satisfies each of the foregoing requirements, Tanguay will send the Other Entrant a written confirmation by email with a single draw coupon number. No draw coupon shall be issued to an Other Entrant whose written request for participation does not meet the foregoing requirements.

- Each Weekly Prize winner will be assigned a number in the order of their winning a Weekly Prize during the Contest Period. Eg: February 24, 2025 draw = 1, March 3, 2025 draw = 2, etc. Each Weekly Prize winner is then assigned a single number until the very end of the draw. The Million Grand Prize draw will be conducted as follows:
- Ten (10) balls numbered 1 to 10 are inserted into the lottery ball machine.
- The balls rotate in the lottery ball machine for 1 minute.
- The first ball will fall. The number of the ball corresponding to the number of the Weekly Prize winner will determine the 1st of 3 finalists for the Million Grand Prize (a “Finalist”). This is followed by 2 more balls to determine the second and the third of the 3 Finalists.
- The verifiers keep the 3 balls of the 3 Finalists.
- The verifiers empty the lottery ball machine of the remaining balls and place them in the case.
- The verifiers insert the 3 balls of the 3 Finalists.
- The lottery ball machine spins for 1 minute.
- The first ball to fall and corresponding with the number of one of the Finalists determines the overall winner of the Million Grand Prize.
- In the event of a major news story forcing the broadcaster to mobilize its staff to cover this event, the big draw will then be conducted off-air under the supervision of LEMIEUX NOLET S.E.N.C.R.L. This decision remains at the broadcaster’s production team’s discretion.
- Prior to obtaining each Weekly Prize or the Million Grand Prize, and as an essential condition for being officially declared winner and obtaining the prize, each potentially winning person must correctly answer, within a prescribed time limit, a mathematical skill-testing question. Following a correct answer to the mathematical skill-testing question, the participant will be officially declared a winner. A winner will only be eligible to win a prize if such winner has met all of the evaluation criteria listed above.
- The eleven (11) draws will be conducted under the supervision of the firm: LEMIEUX NOLET S.E.N.C.R.L.
- Winners will be contacted pursuant to Section 4.5.
