The social involvement of Tanguay
A community-based business
Tanguay is always committed to supporting and encouraging its community. Throughout Eastern Quebec, Tanguay is involved with families, hospitals, community organizations and sports and cultural organizations. Whether through direct support, by organizing or participating in events or through sponsorships, we are proud to contribute to the health and well-being of Quebecers across the province.
The following is a summary of our implications:
Community resources
The Fondation Maurice-Tanguay is strongly involved with Cité Joie, which offers day camps for disabled children, and with Œuvres Jean Lafrance. Through their actions, the Foundation and the Tanguay family are involved with community organizations in Eastern Quebec, including the Fondation Jonction pour elle. In 2020, 1,000 Christmas baskets worth $200,000 were distributed to local organizations throughout the territory. These baskets were delivered by Tanguay delivery trucks.
For 30 years, the Maurice-Tanguay Foundation has supported children with disabilities and their families. In 2020, more than $2 million will have been distributed to hundreds of families with children with special needs. On October 27, 2019, the Foundation also organised the Fête Tropicale which offered a day at Bora Parc to 1200 children and their families.
The Foundation also organises two fundraising activities:
Hospital settings
We are involved in all hospital settings in Eastern Quebec. The CHUL, the Chicoutimi hospital and the IRDPQ are just a few that have a Maurice-Tanguay wing.
We are also involved in the CERVO fondation which provides health care for people with neurological disorders, mental illness or addiction.
Sports implications
Jacques Tanguay is President of the Rouge et Or Football Club and President of Remparts Quebec. Alexandre Tanguay is president of the Board of the Océanic de Rimouski. Tanguay also supports athletes in boxing, snowboarding, soccer, and downhill skiing, including skier Philippe Marquis. Very involved in sports events, Tanguay is involved in the organization of the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron and the Anciens Nordiques Golf Tournament.
Cultural implications
Tanguay supports the Tablée des chefs at the Grand Marché ans participates in Bordeaux fête le vin by organizing École du vin Tanguay. Tanguay also supports museums through numerous donations.
